He is a auctioneer, no much money, no power, not very handsome; he is a ordinary person. But for the woman he love, he could be brave, and become the “Blue Mickey Eyes”.
Michael Felgate, a Manhattan art dealer falls in love with Gina Vitale, is certain she'll soon be his bride. Upon proposing to her at "La Trattoria," a popular eatery in Little Italy. At this point, he learns not only that his bride-to-be is in fact the daughter of a powerful mafia godfather, but that his "discovery" has just embroiled him in a dangerous situation which requires him to pose as the gangster "Mickey Blue Eyes" in order to get out of it alive.Gina‘s father, Frank tries to teach Michael how to talk and behave like a mobster, with the British export Grant hopelessly (and predictably) out of his element. It is almost painful to hear Grant pretend that he can't even begin to sound like an Italian. Caan is ingratiating, but he mostly goes through the paces. As Grant gets into ever greater difficulty, the story necessary to rescue his character (was a happy ending ever in doubt?) becomes evermore elaborate.
The road leading to marrige is tiwst and turns. Michael had to deal with all the ridicilous and tough things, such as auctioning unproper paintings, kissing street girl, and even a murder-by-accident. What a thing! All he did was just to protect his Gina. He tried to get rid of all the messy things without Gina’s notice but failed. The only way to end up seems to be painful—he had to be killed. He agreed, for love.
Does it end like that? Absoultly not, by film's end, Micheal’s steady love came to him rescure. It’s a happy ending. Michael and Gina can live happy forever.
Actually it’s not a interesting movie, but it’s still a touching story, in the name of LOVE.
