A film with no dialogs, just follows the lyrics of the Britten's oratorium, that criticize the war's horrors. It shows the story of an englishman soldier and a nurse (his bride) during the World War II. It combines many real scenes of contemporary wars (WWII, Vietnam, Angola, etc.)
Ok story, good music. But when the director decided to put hundreds of nauseous footages together, you know the film turns into a piece of garbage. Plus the extremly long shots (such as a woman shivering for 5-10mins) are very unbearable. The only brilliant, also what I really love, part is the snowball scene, a short story telling how human souls struggle. Last but not least, i sensed something very home-erotic in the film, although nothing explicit, maybe cause i haven’t had sex for such a long time.
