The first thing caught my eye was that the beautiful female neighbor Angelica is actually stared by Jennifer Beals, who was also the leading actress in an American lesbian TV serial “The L World”. To my surprise, she can change her accent for different characters! With good acting， she seems to be quite out of mainstream films though. She did quite well in this film to form a multilevel character. She is a waitress with no patient and talks straight forwardly, hardly hide her emotion inside. And the same time she is the mother of two children, and no reliable husband, which gives her a lot of pressure, and makes her a bit nervous and irritable. She also retain a little bit of childlike innocent, which shown by her dancing in the snow. She is the muse of Aldolpho.
The loser writer had been broke since long, who could not even afford the rent of a small apartment in a run-down building. He contributed his whole life to a 500 pages script as thick as an encyclopedia, which is simply impossible to be executed. He treasured it a lot, but for paying the rent, he had nothing to sell but the script. Through his ads on newspaper Joe, a seemingly wealthy strange older gentleman, pays Aldolpho $1,000 cash for the work. Joe quickly becomes Aldolpho's warmhearted guardian, giving him confidence, helping him catching his dream girl Angelica, and nurturing his artistic goals. But the screen writer and his producer soon clash over the content of the film, and it takes a tragedy before Aldolpho can begin to understand Joe's point-of-view and create the work he's dreamed of.
Burgling and drug smuggling were not the things ever considered by Aldolpho, but he did without knowledge. When he finds out the truth, conflicts begin to be built between Joe and him. But finally it leads up to a tragic end. But what Aldolpho has got is a brilliant film, made during their experiment shots.
It is a excellent screenplay, three main characters are developed very well. Their personalities are multilayered, which makes the film more truth to life. It shows pretty much what themes in normal people’s lives: Friendship, love, trust, doubt, misunderstanding, forgiveness, lose and gain.
不得志的失落的编剧，住个破公寓天天被讨要房租，凝结他毕生心血的剧本像一本百科全书一样厚，根本拍不成一部电影……但还真有人从报纸的广告上找到了他想把他的剧本拍出来，但这个原意给钱的主不是什么正经的电影投资者，更像个自由职业者，没有工作却出手阔绰。他给了这个编剧一千美金定金，之后的资金他就开始用不法手段获取了，而且入室偷盗在这个金主身上干起来那么顺手和不紧不慢，就像去超市买个东西一样。这个编剧却良心一直受到谴责，在一次这金主的贩毒勾当中，他利用了这个编剧在不知情的情况下做了个中间人，编剧发现之后感觉整个拍片的事情不过是个骗局，自己不过是被利用来做不法勾当的一个傻逼。但最后这个金主真的要把凑齐的钱给这个编剧准备真的拍这个片子的时候，却被女邻居失手杀了。看着被海风吹散的钱，听着男人临死前及其平静的那些话，再看着男人肚子上被掩盖住的伤口，编剧才知道原来他获得的是一份多么珍贵的友情。最后他得到的不是按照自己的剧本拍的片子，而是一部他和那个男人和女邻居一同筹备拍片的这段美好快乐时光的记录。
生活就是这样虽然不得志，虽然充满误会，充满利用，充满铜臭，充满欺诈，但是说不定另一面同时也有那么些说不清道不明，证明不了的，想来可笑的，梦想，执着，友情，爱。

4.5 学习了新词in the soup，原来就是进退两难的意思，再想一下电影的开头和全程，就觉得更妙了。电影最开始男主就是在做汤喝汤，其实也暗示了他之后进退两难的遭遇。
进的话，只会离电影越来越远，神经兮兮的大佬似乎更爱生活；退，好不容易抓住的生存稻草便会从手中滑落，又要回到苦兮兮的贫穷日子里去。
相比于深居浅出、做事畏手畏脚的男主来说，放荡不羁、无视规则的大佬其实更加夺目。感觉这部电影真实地展现了什么叫做“i人是e人的玩具”，大佬虽然没有带男主实现他的梦想，但毫无疑问让他体验一种新的生活方式，虽然更纸醉金迷但也更勇敢。
最后大佬的死只能说是一系列高潮作死的必然结果，但估计他也丝毫不在乎吧。甚至很难辨认所谓的“死前吐真情”是否是真情，他就是那种上一秒还在掏心掏肺，下一秒就和你大开玩笑的最佳损友。
这部电影最大的魅力就在于这种不确定性，人物的不确定，故事走向的不确定。除此以外，它还做到了好看，从放映室里大家此起彼伏的笑声就可见一斑。
最爱的段落是大佬带男主去朋友家行窃的那段，最后居然能在与罹患阿兹海默症（感觉是）的朋友的交谈中全身而退，太好笑了。
