奚若美女埃利是一个动物保护主义者，她改姓埋名来到了一个冰天雪地的大西洋孤岛,此行的目的是寻找未曾谋面的父亲。这个岛上的居民残忍捕杀海豹为食，而她的到来也让渔民心生警惕，一度误会她是记者而故意刁难。加拿大女导演Sophie Deraspe执导影片，女性视角含蓄而细腻，给我们呈现了大西洋孤岛上民众淳朴的生活方式。海面上冰川覆盖，渔船破冰起航，汹涌波动起伏的海浪，萌萌哒让人想要抱起来的海豹，画面简直太美好。女主是一个旁观者，从她的视角，我们可以领略岛上民众的风土人情，他们的生（婴儿出生）、死（出海渔船遇险船员丧命），生存（靠擅自狩猎海豹为生）、娱乐（酒吧喝酒狂欢）等等。影片整体风格有些沉闷和压抑，但坚持看完还是挺意味深长。导演狂炫技，太多长镜头。
